I like to finish each blog post with the advice to always work hard and dream bigger than everyone else.

Having a dream is so important in reaching your goals. I was again reminded of this as I watched the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness horse races. American Pharoah has a shot at the Triple Crown after winning the first two legs, bringing horse racing to the minds of many. I always like watching the celebrations and interviews, and once again this year a word that kept coming up in these interviews is ‘dream’.

American Pharoah is trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by jockey Victor Espinoza. The horse is owned by Ahmed Zayat who is a senior in college. Both Baffert and Espinoza have had amazing success in the sport, winning many horse races and making millions of dollars.

Perhaps that is one of the reasons why repeatedly hearing the word ‘dream’ was so inspiring. Here are guys at the top of their sport, still dreaming of doing more. Still working hard and doing everything they can to make their dreams come true.

Oftentimes people quit dreaming because they think it is just that, ‘a dream that won’t ever come true’. Well if you watched the reaction of Zayat after American Pharoah won the Kentucky Derby you have to believe that it really was a dream come true for him. Within seconds of his horse crossing the finish line he vomited, not because he was sick, but because he was completely overwhelmed by his ‘dream’ coming true.

If you think that dreams only come true for those who have already obtained a lot of success, think again. Look no further than American Pharoah and Ahmed Zayat. Every big shot is just a little shot who kept on shooting.

As we watch the NHL Playoffs head from the Conference Finals into the seven game series for the Stanley Cup, the word dream will again be part of the celebration and interviews.

What is your dream?

What are you doing to help make your dream come true?

Remember, always work hard and dream bigger than everyone else!
