FAQs
Which is better for training: shooting pads or dryland tiles?
Both products have a slick surface, and will protect your stick and floor.
We note three key differences: portability, and training area size, but the decision about which is best for your player is up to you!
Portability
The shooting pads are designed to be carried to a training spot, dropped down, and carried back somewhere else to store. Even a 6 year-old can do this.
The dryland tiles may be carried to and from an area, but are slightly heavier and require more effort to assemble, so most customers leave the tiles permanently in a training area.
2) Training size
The small pad is 24" x 48" which great for all aspects of a U10 player and shooters of all ages, but offers limited stickhandling range of motion for taller players.
In contrast, the tiles are expandable, so as players grow you can create a larger area.
Multiple pads can be placed near each other to create a larger surface, but there's no connection system.
Can the shooting pad be left outdoors?
Yes! The pad has UV-coated materials, is temperature and moisture resistant, and can handle vehicle weight.
It can also be used on grass, street, gravel, or any other ground type.
We suggest wiping the playing surface with a cloth from time to time to remove debris, rocks, etc.
What happens if the pad appears curved?
The shooting pad can temporarily develop a curved "bow-like" effect if stored somewhere besides on a hard surface.
This is normal, and a result of its thin profile and light product weight.
Fortunately, this also corrects itself with no effort. Once the unit is returned to a hard flat surface, gravity prevails the shooting pad gradually retains its flat shape.
Do I need to use glide spray on the pad?
Nope! The materials are highly-engineered to provide a slick surface right out of the box, and will retain those properties over time.
That said, we don't believe any sprays will harm the surface, so if you want to experiment with even more slipperiness then you can certainly do so.
Packing wasn't enough for the rough handling by UPS. No option to replace through Amazon. Have to return and buy again for $12.96 +tax more than when I purchased. There is nothing to assemble so not sure why that's a rating option.Sniper's Edge customer support made it right though. Shout out to Amy! She's a gem!
This shooting pad is an absolute must for any young/developing hockey player to practice shots. I can see a definite improvement in my son's on-ice shooting ability since he began practicing with this pad. It is a good low-friction mimic for ice, and can be used anywhere.
Helps improve shot at home when not on the ice! My sone loves it!
It's not a very good product. Will work for shooting off of, but it's clear any dirt and grime are going to wear fast on it. It's not slick. Had to use cooking spray to grease it up which then causes more dirt and grit to stick to it. Not slick enough to work on any stick handling, just adequate enough to shoot off of.
Great for using anytime you're not actually on the ice.

I believe it is just straight up high density polyethylene, so the materials are nothing special, a bit overpriced in my opinion but it works and it's fun to use.
My son is enjoying using it but I am not sure its superior to a strong piece of plastic you could purchase at the home improvement store for a lot less money.
First it bends pretty easily after only using it for about a week taking it in and out of my garage one of the corners is a little bent, it can be bent back or probably even just cut off but it was a little annoying that it already needs some repairs. Pucks glide just ok on it. not bad but not great. trying to do any kind of puck handling with a real ice hockey puck the puck just drags and ends up on edge. If you want to practice stick handling on this I recommend a weighted ball or maybe a roller puck. As strictly a shooting pad it is pretty good. protects your stick from the concrete and you can whip some pucks on net. Id recommend actually buying at least one up from the smallest one.
This is nice but it was thinner then we expected. We had to cut a piece of plywood so he could play with it on the grass.

Good value, pucks glide nice!
Its not exactly like ice but it does allow a real puck to glide compared to concrete. I would say it's like dekeing on some laminate flooring.
The product was good for few initial strokes. But once the kid was gone for day 1 there were way too many scratches and the product was not usable after that for sliding puck. Poor durability.
This is awesome my grandkids used this to practice hitting pucks foam ones in the house.
2 shooting pads, 2 grandsons and a lot of practice time when ice is not available. Sturdy oversized pads for practicing.
My nephew asked for this for Christmas and he loves it! Uses it almost every day when he’s not actually on the ice playing
I cannot believe they sell this item for $60. It's a small, flat, plastic piece. My daughter insisted that she wanted to keep it. For how small it is and what it is made out of, I feel that it's a complete rip off for what they are charging. It is way overpriced and not with the money spent. I would have spent more money somewhere else for better quality and something bigger. This company should be charging no more than $15 / $20 and even that is questionable!
This is essentially a giant, flimsy cutting board. Out of the box, it it had a dinged corner. My son leaned it against the wall for a couple of hours; it’s now bowing. The only way I think this will even last for him is if he stores it between his mattress and box spring after each use. It’s a total rip off, and no, it’s definitely not slick. I should probably let him roll up the area rug in the basement us practice on the laminate “wood” floors. They are equally as slick. Not worth the money at all. I can’t believe companies get away with selling inferior products like this. You’d be better off going to your local glass shop and having them order a piece of plexiglass or something. Even if the price was more, it would be better quality that’s for sure.

Worked very well. Didn't deform left on the driveway in the summer sun, and my son says it feels almost exactly lik ice
