We've had this for awhile now, and my son uses it daily. Great product, goes together easy, needs a very level surface. It does doll skates quick, but all synthetic ice does. Great for stick handling, running drills, and practicing shooting. Highly recommend and we will be buying more soon.
Not as slick as some other synthetic ice products but for the money and free prime shipping it works well enough. My sons are happy and it was very easy to put together.
I orginally bought 2 sets, and for the cost it was a very small area. I ended up buying 2 more sets (total of 4) and can decently skate in a tight pattern. good for shooting pucks off skates not really skating. It takes alot more effort to skate and dulls your blades quick. smaller kids really have to put in alot of effort to glide otherwise its just like walking on skates... These panels are very thick and sturdy tho, but skates tear them up pretty easy. You almost feel like you should have to coat them with something to help protect them but also help with skating. Puck handling is decent. and feels like ice. It can get very expensive to make a large enough area to make it worth it.
SNIPER'S EDGE HOCKEY TILES ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST! WE DIDN'T RECEIVE OUR PRODUCT AND I WROTE THE COMPANY. DAVID SENT OUT A SET OF DRY HOCKEY ICE IMMEDIATELY AND WAS EXTREMELY ATTENTIVE. THE PRODUCT IS FANTASTIC AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS GREAT. WE HAVE MADE PRIOR PURCHASES WITH THEM AND NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES, BUT WERE SO PLEASED THAT THEY MADE THIS RIGHT QUICKLY. AS USUAL, THE PRODUCT IS PERFECT!
You could skate on it
When we first got the synthetic ice panels, the pieces wouldn’t fit together so we had to use a electric sander to sand down the connecting pieces a little to fit them together but after that it was very enjoyable and fun to skate on. You would probably need at least 2 packs to have enough space to actually skate and not just step around on it. Very pricey and probably not quite worth it but it’s the only way to skate during quarantine.
It seems to be a great product, my great grandson practices every chance he gets.
I knew these panels would not feel totally like ice, that's accepted, but I would like to at least be able to glide a little bit. Im the size of an average defenseman and I don't glide but a couple of inches on these panels, this wouldn't be a problem if they weren't so expensive. If I had to go back and do this again, I would probably look for a different synthetic ice panel.

It was great for figure skates compared to some synthetic ice hockey ice is harder this was sliperying in a good way loved it after 5 hours I had to get my skates sharpen but depends on what you do I was doing everything I do on ice on there so much fun
Really impressed with the tiles and how flush they connect together. Skating on them wears the blades down fast but that’s expected. Puck slide really well on the tiles.

Needs to be faster
Mostly I like the synthetic ice panels. They are the best surface I’ve found for stickhandling with a puck that isn’t ice. At least 3 or 4 packs (12-16 tiles) are really needed to make a large enough surface to skate on. 1-2 packs (4-8 tiles) are enough for stickhandling or shooting practice. The surface shreds up more quickly than I expected but I just clear off the shavings and keep going. Freshly sharpened skates were kinda dull after an hour of skating around on the tiles so keep that in mind.
Great product. My 6 and 3 year old are loving the ability to skate ALL YEAR right at home. With the tiles having a bit more resistance than natural ice, my 3 year old has been more encouraged to try skating. He's doing great, perfect confidence booster.

Great product for year round skating at home!
So far so good. Skatable and slick for puck handling. I put the tiles on a breathable subfloor to avoid mold under the tiles so tiles do lift a bit. All around good product.
next best thing to ice that i've found. We've been building a rink in the garage a few boxes at a time ( up to 16 x 16ft now )
I set up a smallish area (8x8) for my 8 year old son, who is into both figure skating and hockey. Was really nice but just too small. So I ordered more and made a 16x8 area. Now my son is on the ice constantly (arenas being closed, even more so). I decided to order a third batch of panels to fill in the edges of the room fantastic investment and I like skating on it as well. Good edge work.
Initially it was difficult to skate on the ice but quickly adapted to it. Obviously more friction so skating is more work. Excellent for working on edges and puck handling. I have a little over 290 sq feet which is adequate but would recommend more if one had the space and the funds.
I was aware that the surface generated more friction but was surprised how much. My daughter compared it to pond skating. But it is definitely functional and a great training tool. It is alot of fun to be able to skate at any time. I was surprised at the amount of shavings that come off after each skate.

Love This! We recently put almost 400 square feet of this down in our yard and my kids love it. Glides like ice and the seams are non-existent if you have a hard flat surface underneath. Great product! Bought this for my son for Christmas. Loves it! Spends almost 2-3 hours on it a day since... Best product on the market for the price. The larger panels are better for invisible seams and the two sided makes the longevity much better than others. Customer service was incredible as well. FAQs
How does Synthetic Ice differ from Dryland Hockey Tiles?
The term "synthetic ice" is a specific hockey industry term to mean tiles or panels that can be skated on. This can also be referred to as Fake Ice or Artificial Ice.
Dryland hockey tiles is also a home hockey flooring product, but intended for use with shoes, inline skates or barefoot.
Both are great products and top sellers for Snipers Edge, but they have different training benefits and at different price points. Learn more about our dryland hockey tiles here.
Sometimes our competitors, especially those based in non-English speaking countries, will use the term "synthetic ice" to describe what is really dryland hockey tiles. We're not sure whether that is simply a language translation error, or someone intending to mislead customers. We suggest doing your homework and confirming whether the product is described as being SKATEABLE or not.
How many boxes do I need?
Each box of Synthetic Ice comes with 4 tiles that are each 2' x 4' (8 SF), or 32 SF in total. Thus, measure the length and width of your desired training space to calculate your square footage, and divide by 32 to get the # of boxes.
For reference, an average 2-car garage is 400-600 SF. So if you're looking for tiles to occupy a car stall in the garage training area, you might want ~200SF...or 6-7 boxes.
Can the panels be connected short + long side?
No. The panels are designed to match seamlessly with the same side of each panel. The long side (4 Foot Side) will only match up with other long sides and the short side (2 foot side) will only match up with other short sides.
Can the synthetic ice panels be used on carpet, grass, or an uneven/sloped surface?
Yes! Our Synthetic Ice is manufactured with a UV-protective coating to enable either indoor or outdoor use. That said, a few useful tips if you plan to use the tiles outdoors:
1) The panels work better on a hard, flat surface, however, so while use on grass is certainly possible, results are better on driveway, garage floor, basement floor, etc. If you really want to train on grass, consider placing plywood sheet(s) underneath to create a hard surface.
2)The panels may shift with temperature changes, so double-check that your surface is flat before each use. Stomp down the seams if any heaving occured.
3) If you use outdoors, we suggest clearing off leaves, sticks, and other debris before using for optimal training results.
Will synthetic ice ruin my skates?
As with all synthetic ice products, our skating on our panels will dull your skates faster than regular ice due to the heat and friction created as the skates are cutting the plastic layers.
The blades and skates themselves will be fine, but we recommend for you to get a sharpening before you return back to on-ice practice. Alternatively, consider using a set of replacement blades solely for use on synthetic ice.
