For hockey players the holiday season is a great time to recharge your batteries and refocus on the goals you set out to accomplish at the start of the season. If the year is going great so far, awesome, keep working hard and improving on the areas of your game such as shooting the puck, stickhandling and passing.
If, however, your season is not exactly shaping up as anticipated, it’s time to go back to basics, roll up your sleeves and put in some good old-fashioned hard work. It’s often said that if you want to be a good hockey player show up to practice, work hard and apply what you have learned in the game.
If you want to be a great hockey player however, it takes many hours away from the ice rink to develop the skills necessary to be a leader on the stat chart. Make 2019 the season that you not only work hard for your coaches and teammates each and every practice, but also take the time away from the rink to develop a harder, more accurate shot, to become a better passer as well as an awesome stickhandler!
While some players may have some great natural talent, the skills necessary to become a great hockey player can be mastered in the driveway, basement, garage or backyard. The best shooters became goal scorers by shooting hundreds and thousands of pucks. The best moves that you watch over and over on YouTube were perfected through repetition.
