FAQs

Can I skate on the slick tiles?

No, the dryland hockey slick tiles are designed for use with shoes, inline skates, socks or barefoot. If you're looking for skateable tiles, please check out our synthetic ice!

How many boxes do I need?

Each box of white and ice blue tiles come with 20 tiles that are each 1' x 1' (i.e. 1 SF). Thus, measure the length and width of your desired training space to calculate your square footage, and divide by 20 to get the # of boxes.

For reference, an average 2-car garage is 400-600 SF. So if you're looking for tiles to occupy a car stall in the garage training area, you might want ~200SF...or 10 boxes.

Can I park a vehicle on them?

Yes! The tiles are strong enough to withstand a vehicle weight.

Can the tiles be put outside, on grass, or an uneven/sloped surface?

Yes! The slick tiles are manufactured with a UV-protective coating to enable either indoor or outdoor use. That said, a few useful tips if you plan to use the tiles outdoors:

1) The tiles work better on a hard, flat surface, however, so while use on grass is certainly possible, results are better on driveway, garage floor, basement floor, etc. If you really want to train on grass, consider placing plywood sheet(s) underneath to create a hard surface.

2)The tiles may shift with temperature changes, so double-check that your surface is flat before each use. Stomp down the seams if any heaving occured.

3) If you use outdoors, we suggest clearing off leaves, sticks, and other debris before using for optimal training results.

What should I use to clean the tiles?

There's no special cleaning required, other than using an occassional pushbroom to remove dust, pet hair, and other particles, just like any other flooring surface in your house. You can also mop the tiles with a mild soap as well without harming the surface, if you so choose.

If used outdoors, be sure to remove twigs, leaves, and other debris before each use.

Standard rubber pucks do not leave marks on the slick tiles! Some scuffmarks from stick tape may occur over time. If this bothers you, consider using white stick tape while training on tiles.

Difficult set up

The sheen and construction of these tiles are nice, but putting the tiles together is daunting. I have used other sport tiles that had a better tongue and groove design which made for easy assembly and tear down, but the design on these is not ideal if you plan on disassembling and reassembling more than once.

Great off ice training tool

Easy to put together, 20^2 foot is plenty for practicing stick handling and dekes. Regulation pucks glide great and the surface doesn’t damage my twig, not even a nick on the tape. 2nd purchase and I’ll keep buying until the basement is covered!

Set up was pretty straight forward and they provide a nice smooth and customizable in size area to work on shooting mechanics. Light enough to move even for an 11y.o. Recommend them over a similar priced but smaller shooting pad

Glad to have you as a customer Aaron. Thanks for your purchase!

Loved the tiles, the blue ones made it fun where we could put in a crease and blue line. Helped for the practice and games we had out there!

Great system and very easy to install. Repeat customer!

This is a durable, easy to install system for home use. Caution: the blue/red for the same price is only half as many tiles. You’ll need more than you think. They do handle vehicles but I recommend using cardboard as insiltatuin, especially for warm tires.

Way Overpriced

$600 for about 70% of ONE SIDE of a two car garage. Holy Moley! I'm not sure if they're actually that expensive to make or just a money grab like so many other "training products". Both my kids say they are slightly better than smooth garage concrete. Probably worth it for textured patio concrete or something.

Not too bad

Have only used them a few times. I recommend not taping your stick unless you want sticky streaks all over your tiles. Not very slick either. My green biscuits glide a lot better on concrete than an actual puck on the tiles. I’ve tried quite a few different waxes to make it more slick and none of them have worked. Cool to have but I’d recommend green biscuits or going to the rink

Entertaining!

I thought this was a good value purchase for hours of entertainment! We set these up in the basement and the boys have spent hours using these tiles.

Perfect for ball hockey

I bought these so I can practice del hockey and ball hockey in my yard without destroying my composite sticks. They are very easy to assemble and durable. A street hockey ball rolls very smooth on this material and it keeps the blade of my stick in perfect condition. If you’re on the fence about buying these I would absolutely recommend that you get them and will not regret your decision once you stick handle on them for the first time!

Better than expected

Due to others comments I wasn’t sure how these would be, but relatively simple to install, just line up the tabs and smack down ( I used a rubber mallet.) My tiles are amazingly smooth , I had been practicing on my concrete garage floor previously and these have way more slide to them. They are very expensive for the surface area but great for stick handling / shooting.

Decent Product - Some Okay, Some Poor

I got this product for my son to do shooting and handles when we can't make it to the rink. Overall, I would say this product is ok. Price is fine, Good Packaging - no dmg and everything came as advertised. The 20 tiles are more than enough for shooting and handle practice although a second box would be awesome, but not needed.Putting together is not difficult - however the plastic pieces don't always line up and you must either angle the plastic piece or get a tool (flathead screwdriver) and push them a bit to line up and connect. Have a rubber mallet to save your thumbs. The puck slides decent on the material- but at times you can tell it is getting 'stuck' a little and then it flips up. It's a little frustrating when working on handle but for shooting they work well.Overall, I would buy again, but would also try other companies to see if there is a difference in material.

Tiles work

Tiles work great for shooting. Hit them with a little silicone spray and they do a pretty good job for stick handling.

Snaps together with some effort

We got these like ice tiles for my son for his birthday. My son is an avid hockey player (in skates since he was 3) and he has been wanting to practice his shooting when off the ice. These tiles were an excellent choice. they were packed very well. Our biggest complaint was connecting the tiles. It makes sense that you want to have these tiles snap together securely so they do not slip (hitting slapshots on these tiles will give them quite the beating), but getting them to attach was quite tricky. You had to almost pick up the tiles and have them snap together, but getting them to stick was somewhat of a pain. I wished I had a soft mallet to help tap these pieces together, but after some very sore thumbs, we managed to get the tiles oriented in a cube. Both my boys are shooting off these tiles and have not complained about them once.

Great product

Couldn’t be easier to install, tiles click together easily. Took about 5 minutes per box. Pucks slide well on the tiles, great for outdoors or indoors. I’ll be purchasing more to get a larger area. 1 box of 20 tiles gave me a nice 4x5 foot area.

Easy to assemble, works well with pucks and balls.

These tiles are easy to put together. You get the hang of it quickly and the snap together. The tiles are easy to clean and durable.I've used the tiles with ice pucks, roller pucks, Franklin balls, and A&R balls, all work well. A single box is enough for shooting or stationary stickhandling drills.I'm very satisfied and will order a second box!

Enjoying the slick tile set up in the garage.
I did have two of the edge pieces break on me during install but overall with a 20 x 14 space very satisfied

We really like them but some are beginning to separate at the connection points and we’re not entirely sure how to correct it.

Good, Slick Tiles

The tiles have a good, slick surface. Some of the tiles are not exactly the same size as others, which leaves a bit of a gap when assembling them and makes for difficult assembly, but the finished product is overall good.
