Sniper's Edge Hockey Shooting Tarp Ice Hockey Shooting Drills
Below are 21 different hockey drills designed to help you improve your shot power, accuracy and quickness; and they are drills you can do with the Sniper’s Edge Hockey Shooting Tarp. The difficulty of the drills range from beginner to advanced, so there are examples of shooting drills you can practice no matter what skill level you’re at, and how you're looking to improve your shooting game.
Beginner Shooting Drill – (quickness & accuracy)
In this drill you will fake to your backhand and pull the puck to your forehand, releasing a quick shot on net, using the defender (represented in the video by the hockey stick and folding chair). This will catch goalies off-guard in games if you can become an expert at this drill.
Beginner Backhand Shooting Drill
Similar to the shooting drill above, in this drill you will fake to your forehand and move the puck to your backhand, releasing a backhand shot on net.
Backhand Shooting Drill
In this drill you will have pucks in a line. You will start at the puck closest to the tarp and move back a puck each time after you fire a backhand shot on goal. This is designed to help improve every aspect of your backhand shot (power, accuracy & quickness).
In-Tight Hockey Scoring Drill
In this drill you have pucks placed right in front of the tarp and will try and flip the pucks into the top corners of the tarp. This is a great goal scoring drill for forwards, and simulates receiving a rebound in front of the opponents net during a game.
Hockey Scoring Drill - Backhand
Another great drill for forwards to practice their close-up rebound shots. In this drill you will have pucks placed right in front of the tarp and quickly pull them to your backhand, attempting to put them in the top corners.
Hockey Scoring Rebound Drill
Improve your hockey shooting speed and accuracy. In this drill you will place pucks in front of the tarp and alternate using your forehand and backhand, attempting to put the pucks in the top corners of the Hockey Shooting Tarp.
Hockey Backhand Goal Scoring Drill - Angles
In this drill you will move a puck with your backhand around a chair releasing a quick shot on goal from your backhand. You will not always be able to get shots off on your forehand in a game and may see this drill come into play.
Box Toe-Drag Shooting Drill
In this drill you will do 4 toe drags in a box formation, before releasing a shot at the Hockey Shooting Tarp from different spots of the formation each time (forward and backhand).
Agility Stickhandle Drill With Shot - Advanced
In this drill you will stickhandle and side-step over two sticks as quickly as possible, before releasing a quick shot on goal. This drill is designed to get your feet moving in conjunction with your hands.
Hockey Workout / Shooting Drill
In this drill you will start away from the net and stickhandle while hopping on one leg, moving closer to the goal, before releasing a shot on Hockey Shooting Tarp from your forehand or backhand.
Hockey Stickhandling Circle Drill With Shot
In this drill you will have pucks lined up in a row and move the puck in a circle around the next puck followed by a quick shot on net. You will continue this pattern until all the pucks are gone.
Hockey Stickhandling Circle Drill With Backhand Shot
In this drill you will have pucks lined up in a row and move the puck in a circle around the next puck, followed by a quick shot on net. You will continue this pattern until all pucks are gone.
Hockey Deke With Shot
In this drill you will execute a toe drag before sliding the puck under a chair and firing a quick forehand shot on net.
Hockey Trick Shot
In this drill you will juggle a puck on your stick moving backwards, before taking a lacrosse like shot on goal.
Expert Hockey Drill
In this drill you will bump the puck off your foot to your stick at 4 different angles, before taking a shot on goal.
Fun Hockey Trick Shot
In this drill you will juggle a puck on your stick, before batting the puck out of mid-air on goal.
Foot To Stick Hockey Shot
In this drill you will move towards the net, while bouncing the puck off of your feet to your stick. Repeat this until you are close to the net and release a shot on goal.
Hockey Puck Handling Shot
In this drill you will bounce the puck off of the outside of your foot to your stick, alternating sides, before releasing a shot on goal.
Fun Hockey Juggling Shot
In this drill you will flip the puck off of the tarp and catch it on your stick, throwing it into the net, similar to a lacrosse shot.
Hockey Five-Hole Shooting Game
In this drill you will have pucks in a line and will start at the puck closest to the net. Once you make the first puck into the five-hole you will move back to the next puck. If you miss the five-hole you must start over
